Is Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts Worth Watching?
Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts is a must watch for any fan of Trixie Mattel or fans of The Trixie and Katya Show. This documentary was coincidentally filming during Trixie and Katya’s fallout due to Katya’s drug problem. There is some behind-the-scenes footage of what happened on the set and Katya’s subsequent treatment of Trixie while in rehab. Anyone who was following these events in real time and had any negative opinions towards Trixie should watch this to get some perspective on what she was dealing with at the time. Outside of the Katya drama, this was a documentary stylized as a standard musician’s touring documentary. You get to see Trixie performing around the world, all while RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3 airs. While there is some cool insight into just how a drag queen of Trixie’s caliber does basic things like store all of her drag, other than the Katya stuff nothing is revelatory. It is nice to see Trixie in another light but this documentary will not turn someone into a fan of drag. It was created for fans of Trixie, and to a lesser extent RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Rating: C- You are not likely going to want to watch this documentary unless you are a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Trixie Mattel in Particular
