Is Train to Busan Worth Watching?
A South Korean zombie movie, Train to Busan was refreshing in a world of stale zombie movies. There is a lot to like in this movie. It follows a train as it leaves the station just as a zombie outbreak is gripping the city. Unfortunately, one manages to get on board and begin infecting people one car at a time. The people on board are trapped and fighting to survive until they reach the next station. Characters who just met are forced to work together to beat back the swarm moving up the train all while trying to protect their loved ones. I wasn’t sold on this movie when it started, but it did a good job in creating a tense environment in the lead up to the outbreak: news on in the background of scenes, mysterious explosions. I enjoy a movie where the characters are in the dark in the beginning, allowing the world falling apart to become backdrop. If you don’t mind subtitled movies, this one is a firm recommendation from me. You can watch as the outbreak reflects the best and worst of a small group of people who just wanted to get to Busan.
