Is Too Hot to Handle Worth Watching?

Too Hot to Handle is Netflix’s newest reality series with a twist. A group of people are dropped on an island resort and given time to mingle with one another. However, after 12 hours, they’re told that they will be expected to grow as people and develop deeper emotional connections in their relationships. To that end, there will be a $100,000 prize for the most improved. The twist is that anytime any contestant engages in any physically romantic or sexual activity, money will be deducted from the pot, affecting all contestants. They must spend 1 month in this retreat. Workshops are set up to help teach growth, but some of the players just cannot seem to wrap their heads around the rules. Several spend time actively tying to convince others to break the rules. One pair loses the group money intentionally. In the end, it just becomes frustrating to watch as they don’t just sit by the pool and read. This should be the easiest game in the world to win. Like the Circle, this tries to raise the stakes with a gimmick, but it falls well short due to the contestants’ failure to play by the rules.
