Is Mr. Right Worth Watching?
Mr. Right is so bad its only saving grace is its run time. Mr. Right follows the unlikely romantic entanglement between a recently single woman (Anna Kendrick) and an assassin who only kills the people who hire him (Sam Rockwell). While the premise sounds like it could be promising, this movie flubs the execution every step of the way. First, the writing in this is terrible. Things happen just because the story calls for it in the next scene. We see Anna Kendrick worrying about Rockwell being dangerous, but in the next scene she has agreed that him being an assassin is cool; then he should not kill, and soon after she is totally fine with him killing people. Kendrick’s character in less than ten hours goes from being freaked out that she is dating an assassin to gleefully murdering people. And what’s worse - Kendrick and Rockwell’s performances were extremely flat. Every line they delivered was one note, and they didn’t have any personality other than quirky girl and overly honest assassin. Tim Roth had a relatively decent performance and I guess it was cool seeing what he was up to in 2015, but otherwise I hated this movie.
