Is Injustice 2 Worth Playing?
Injustice 2 picks up a few years after the fall of Superman’s regime. The world, now slowly rebuilding, faces a new threat in Brainiac, forcing Batman and Superman to work together for the greater good. Injustice 2’s story is not amazing and has some questionable character motivations, but if you do not think about it too hard it is enjoyable. It really only exists to justify the large cast of characters fighting each other. Because of this, the real crux of the game is the fighting, which is combo based, including command strings, special moves, blocks, and anything else you would traditionally imagine in this type of game. You also can level up characters and have a gear and cosmetic upgrade system. However, I did not find this useful until a character was at max level. Most of the content in Injustice 2 revolves around improving your skills either against other players online or through their “Multiverse” events. These Multiverse Events are timed challenges that have you completing fights under certain conditions for extra loot. If you liked Injustice: Gods Among US or NetherRealm’s other property Mortal Kombat, you will most likely enjoy this game, but don’t expect anything revolutionary.
Rating: B – The story is enjoyable, the roster of fighters is immense, and the controls are tight but if you don’t enjoy online matches or the multiverse events, this may have a short shelf life for you.
