Is Bloodborne Worth Playing

The most striking thing about Bloodborne is its artistic direction. This game oozes style as you venture through the decrepit Victorian streets and face off against Lovecraftian enemies. Its gameplay is similar to the other games developed by FromSoftware, with stamina bar management, healing with the d-pad, amazing level design filled with great shortcuts, and difficult yet satisfying combat. That is the first thing longtime players of the Soulsborne games will notice- combat is noticeably quicker, and you no longer have a shield to defend yourself. Players must learn to rely on the quickstep to get out of difficult situations. To compensate, a new mechanic called the rally system is introduced. When you take damage, if you start damaging an enemy back, you can regain some of your health. This ultimately leads to a much more aggressive combat style then generally seen in the other Soulsborne games. Because of this emphasis on quicker combat, Bloodborne has some of the best boss fights from the Soulsborne games. I thoroughly enjoyed Bloodborne and highly recommend it to fans of the genre. However, it is not be for everyone as there is a specific gameplay loop that can take a while to click.
