Is Black Spot Season 1 Worth Watching
Black Spot is a French mystery program that is currently two seasons long. It focuses on a small French hamlet called Villefrache, which sits on the edge of an old growth forest. The town draws the attention of a prosecutor because of its astronomical murder rate. However, once he arrives, he discovers that Villefranche is not just a town on the edge of the wood. There are several interwoven stories told throughout the two seasons. The mayor’s daughter had been missing for 3 months. The local sheriff is trying to stay ahead of the grisly killings in her town. Shady business deals are being done in the dead of night. Ecoterrorists come to town. And presiding over it all is the forest, which appears to be inhabited by Cernunnos, an ancient Celtic god. People who go into the forest don’t always come out, and the sheriff is haunted by the days she spent chained up in a deep canyon when she was young. She never knew who abducted her, but she lost 2 fingers to the ordeal. This is a high recommendation for me, with a caveat. You’ll need to be comfortable with dubbed English or subtitles.
