Is A Centaur's Life Worth Watching?

A Centaur’s Life is a slice of life anime based on the premise that instead of human evolution occurring, a different path was followed leading to a world filled with Centaurs, Cat People, Frog People, etc. While this premise sounds interesting on paper, in actuality, the society developed in this world is nearly identical to our own, where the main crux of the story follows a cast of high school girls. This is the first big miss of the series, as instead of using this premise to create an interesting world, it comes off more as a reason to have “Monster Girls” in everyday situations. However, my issues with this anime do not end there. Other than minor instances where they explore the ideas of racism between the species, this anime relies heavily on well-established tropes and brings nothing new to the slice of life format. If you have watched a fair amount of anime you will likely be bored after a few episodes as none of the characters are particularly memorable.

Rating: D- If you read a description of this and it doesn’t sound interesting to you, nothing contained therein will change your mind. This anime is very targeted towards a specific audience.
